Revolutionary technique reveals new strategies of assessing ocular aging and therapies for eye diseases

October 22, 2023

Researchers from Stanford Medicine reached milestones in a new study published in Cell on a state of art method that aims at measuring ocular aging by studying proteins from the eye fluid, leading to promising treatments of various eye diseases.

The technique called TEMPO - tracing expression of multiple protein origins - targets proteins and links them to the cells where their RNA-root resides, allowing the scientists “to understand the cellular origin of disease-driving proteins with the hope that eventually they can target the cells with personalized medical treatments”.
